1. CLOTHING ALTERATIONS

Learn the basics of garment fitting, style, restyle and repairs. Bring in garments to try on and be fitted by instructor. Receive step by step demonstration on how to fit, mark, sew, press and finish off most basic alterations, restyle and repairs. In addition, learn how to choose well in future purchases based on the style and fit that best suit your body type. The instructor will do demonstrations from 9:30 AM-12:30 PM, followed by as short lunch break, then hands-on lab until 2:30 PM.

Supplies: MiraCosta College does not provide sewing machines. Bring a sack lunch. A materials list will be sent prior to the start of class.

2. CLOTHING REPRODUCTION: PATTERN MAKING & SEWING

Learn how to copy and reproduce that favorite garment. Bring to class your favorite garments that you would love to reproduce and receive instruction on how to make the pattern and sew it from beginning to end. The instructor will do demonstrations from 9:30 AM–12:30 PM, followed by a short lunch break, then hands-on lab until 2:30 PM.

3. GROUP OR PRIVATE SEWING CLASSES

Sewing classes are available for individuals interested in garment sewing and home decor. Classes can be tailored to students special interests and learning level. Class 1 is a beginner level and gradually will advance to a level 10 for certification. Classes that are offered are, but not limited to:

4. SEWING PARTIES

Get a group of friends together and learn to sew. Is your child always bugging you to teach her how to sew? Need a theme for a fashion enthusiasts birthday party? Then throw a sewing party! You can sew a pillow case, decorate a hat or even make an apron or basic skirt.

5. VACATION/SUMMER SEWING & DESIGN CAMP

Schedule a 3-4 day sewing and design lessons for your aspiring young fashion designer. Novice or advanced welcome. 4 child minimum. Projects can range from aprons, custom pillows, basic summer dress or basic skirt. Students must provide their own supply sewing machine and sewing materials.
